ABOUT THE EVENT

Celebrating the 20th anniversary, Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita 5K Fun Run brings together two of Austin’s favorite things – running and margaritas!

For two decades, runners, joggers, walkers, and margarita lovers have converged at Sand Beach Park in downtown Austin for a shotgun start and 5K course that travels along the streets bordering Lady Bird Lake and the Butler Trail before ending back at the park for the highly anticipated Tex-Mex party and margarita celebration.

This year’s run will be Thursday, June 8, 2023, with an 8:00pm start.

Registration includes:

  • Race Entry
  • 20th Anniversary Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita 5K Run shirt
  • Entry to the Maudie’s Finish Line Celebration
  • Two Maudie’s Margaritas
  • Maudie’s Tex-Mex appetizer-sized bites

Register as a team:

If you have already registered and want to join a team, just log into your Event Dog account and select a team. It’s as easy as choosing salt on the rim.

All registration fees from the run go directly to The Trail Conservancy, providing critical funds needed to achieve our mission to protect, enhance, and connect the Ann & Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail for all!

Course Map

The 5K run leaves Walter Seaholm Drive and travels alongside Lady Bird Lake and the Butler Trail on Cesar Chavez before looping around Austin High and returning back to Sand Beach Park.

Getting There

We highly encourage using the Butler Trail or ride-share to get to the race. Road closures will go into effect beginning at 6:00PM, so traffic will be heavier than usual in the area surrounding the event.

BUTLER TRAIL. We highly recommend parking off-site and using the Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail to get to the race site. Plus, it counts as your pre-run warm up! Plan your trip with our Trail Maps.

CAPMETRO. Want to rest before your run? Hop on public transportation, and get dropped off nearby. Plan your trip with CapMetro.

PAID PARKING. There are several paid public parking options nearby:

Unfortunately, no. The Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita Run is one of our major annual fundraisers and a rain-or-shine event.

We cannot offer refunds or transfers due to schedule changes, weather, cancellations, etc.

Both policies were stated at registration.

But you can still get your shirt!

We order shirts based on the size you requested, but will have a few extra in each size. Shirts are on a first come, first served basis so to guarantee you get the size you want, please plan to come to packet pick up early.

Don’t get us wrong – we love dogs and know they run fast! However, Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita Run isn’t on the Trail, so despite the respite from the heat this week, we worry about the heat on puppy dogs’ feet!

We do not recommend bringing your four-legged friend with you. It’s just going to be too hot.

Yes! We do ask that anyone running or walking with a stroller stay towards the back for a smoother race experience for you and your little one.

We would love to have you!

Sign Up to volunteer for packet pick-up on Saturday, June 3.

Sign Up to volunteer during the event. We need people to help with directional support, party assistance, and help out at the course water stations.

There will be a Maudie’s Tex-Mex Nacho Bar, and you’ll have two coupons for Maudie’s margaritas. We will also have Hi-Sign Brewing, Kosmic Kombucha, and water available.

This year, we will have music by DJ Chorizo Funk and the Passion Flower setting the stage for a fun celebration.
