How old do you have to be to participate?

• We welcome all ages and abilities. However, only those 21 and older will be served post-race margaritas.

My friends and family are coming to cheer me on, but not participating in the run. Can they join me at the Finish Line Party?

• We welcome a good cheering squad (and entourage), but everyone must have a race bib to enter the Finish Line party. The bib is your access to food and beverages. Your cheering squad doesn’t have to participate in the run, but will have to register to receive a bib.

My dog loves to run. Can I bring him with me to the run?

• Don’t get us wrong – we love our Trail dogs and know how fast they run! However, this run occurs on the streets adjacent to the Trail, and we worry about the hot asphalt on puppy dog feet! Plus, there will be large crowds at all turns, so we kindly ask that you leave your furry four-legged friend home in the AC for this one.

Are running strollers allowed?

• Yes. We just ask that anyone participating with a stroller start towards the back of the race for a smoother experience for everyone – including your little guest. 

What time should I arrive?

• The race begins promptly at 8:00PM to maximize margarita time. We suggest you arrive around 7:00PM. We will have a guided pre-run stretch at 7:30PM, followed by pre-run programming before the shotgun start. 

What can I expect at the Finish Line Party?

• Your registration includes entry into the Finish Line Party at Auditorium Shores. You must have your bib to enter, so please leave it on! There will be a Maudie’s Tex-Mex Nacho Bar, several Margarita bars, live music, activations, and more. We will also have an assortment of non-alcoholic drinks and water available. All food and beverages are complimentary with your race entry.

I registered for the run but now cannot make it. Can I request a refund or transfer my registration?

• Unfortunately not. We do not offer refunds or transfers due to schedule changes, weather conditions, or cancellations. Both policies are stated numerous times during the registration process. Because the Moonlight Margarita Run is one of The Trail Conservancy’s annual fundraising events, registration fees go directly to The Trail Conservancy’s work. We are sorry you can’t make it, but rest assured that you are helping give back to the Trail you love. You will still get a race t-shirt, so let us know if you won’t be in town, and we can mail it to you. (You can wear it and brag about your speed; we won’t tell if you don’t!) 

Setting Up a Team:

The Team Captain must register on the registration website using the Team Captain option. 

1. Choose a Team Name
2. Set your Invitation Status
   • Public: Your team will show in the “Select Team” drop-down list so anyone can join.
   • Link: Only guests who have your team link can join.
   • Invite: Only those who you invite directly can join.
3. Select a Packet Pick-Up option. You can pick up all the packets for your team at once, or individual members can pick up their own. 
4. Submit the form. 

1. Go to www.eventdog.com and click “Login” on the top menu bar.
2. Click “Team Management”
3. First-time users must follow the steps provided to request a temporary password.
4. After you receive the temporary password, input the email address you used to register and the password to log in.
5. Once logged in, you will see all of your registrations listed.
6. Select your Team Captain registration, then click the “Manage Team” button. From this screen, you can:

• • See & edit your team settings before editing is frozen
  • Invite team members
  • Select a co-captain
  • Email your team members
  • Adjust your team’s privacy
  • Adjust the Packet Pick Up option before editing is frozen

Adding/Removing Team Members:

Even though you created the team and are the Team Captain, you must join the team once you complete your race registration form.

If the team access is public:

• Upon logging on to EventDog.com, access the event you’re looking for.
• Scroll down the event page and click the pencil next to “Team Name.”
• Select your team name from the drop-down menu.
• Click the “Save” button. You are now on the team!

If the team access is “Invite Only” or “Anyone with the link”:

• Log in to your Team Captain registration and select the blue “Manage Team” button.
• Enter your email to invite yourself to the team.
• Return to your main login screen; at the top, you will see a box inviting you to join the team.
• Return to your team management screen; you should see you are on the team!

Inviting others to join your team:

• If a Public Team – Just inform your friends to select the team name from the drop-down when registering for the event.
• If NOT a Public Team – On your EventDog.com Team Captain page, enter a list of comma-separated email addresses in the first box and a quick message in the second box to be sent to those you want to invite. A team link is available if you select “Anyone with a link,” which can be copied to share in your email account.

Adding a Team Member who registered but didn’t use your invitation link:

• Click on your “Manage Team” button and include the email address they used to register for the race in the space provided, then hit the send button.
• Now, tell them to log on to their EventDog.com account, where they will see a pending team invite to accept and join the team.

Confirm or Remove Team Members:

• Anyone who has registered to be part of your team is listed on your Manage Team page.
• Click the red X to remove anyone not supposed to be part of your team. This will remove the person from your team but leave them registered for the event.
• A notice is automatically sent to everyone removed from a team, and you can send a personal note simultaneously if desired.

You will receive an email two weeks before the run with dates, times, and the location for packet pick-up. The email will come from the same system that you registered through and to the same email you used to register. More information will be posted about packet pickup on this page starting in May of 2026.

What is in your race packet:

• 2026 Event Shirt
• Running Bib with Margarita drink tickets
• Safety pins
• Fun swag

We order shirts based on the size you request while registering, but will have a few extra in each size. Shirts will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. So to guarantee you get the size you want, please plan to pick up your packet early. 

Traffic will be heavier than usual— plan ahead! Road closures will go into effect beginning at 6:00 PM in the area surrounding the event.

How to get there:

1. HIKE OR BIKE USING THE BUTLER TRAIL. We recommend arriving by way of the Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail Park off-site and getting your pre-race warm-up in early. Plan your trip with our Trail Maps.

• BIKE PARKING.  Are you a pre-race cyclist? It is easy to arrive by bike. Ride your bike- but remember to bring your own lock. There are bike racks located at 701 W Riverside Drive. 
• CITY BIKE.  Don’t have a bike? Don’t worry. You can rent a bicycle through the City Bike Program with a station right on site. Plan your trip with City Bike.

2. HOP ON PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION WITH CAPMETRO. Maybe you prefer to get a pre-race meditation in. Hop on public transportation and get dropped off nearby.  Plan your trip with CapMetro.

3. DRIVE/RIDE WITH FRIENDS AND PARK. There are several paid public parking options nearby:

• Palmer Events Center Parking Garage – 736-820 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704
  $15.00 parking, paid on entry.
• Silicon Labs – 109 San Antonio St, Austin, TX 78701 
  $8.00 parking after 6 pm in Silicon Labs, Building 400 Parking Garage off San Antonio Street. 
  • Event users will use the staircase to get in and out of the parking garage.
• One Texas Center Parking Garage – 505 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704

The following items are prohibited from the run and post-run venue:

• Weapons of any kind, including firearms, knives, mace, etc.
• Any dangerous item or “dual use” item that could be considered dangerous, including hammers, saws, sharp objects, etc.
• Flammable liquids, fuels, fireworks, toxic chemicals and explosives
• Large packages, coolers, pop-up tent or camping tents and lean-tos
• Duvets, sleeping bags, and large blankets or comforters
• Unmanned aerial devices, drones, survey balloons, photography mini-copters, or any other flying device
• Opaque trash/plastic bags (clear trash bags are allowed)
• Animals/pets
• Folding chairs, camp chairs and tables of any kind
• Glass containers
• Containers of liquid larger than one liter
• Suitcases and rolling bags
• Camelbacks and any type of hydration backpack (fuel belts and handheld water bottles are allowed)
• Weight vests or any other vests with multiple pockets, especially those that can be used as water reservoirs
• Costumes that cover the face and any bulky outfits that are not reasonably form-fitting
• Props, including sporting equipment, military, and fire gear, and signs larger than 11” x 17”
• Selfie sticks and camera mounts/rigs that are not attached directly to participants’ heads or torsos
