The wetland habitat around Blunn Creek and the western edge of the Boardwalk has a significant need for restoration due to the extreme pressure of invasive woody plants, vines, and aquatic flora. In collaboration with Watershed Protection and Texas Forest Service, this project includes many weeks of invasive removals and planting efforts. Over 40 large invasive trees have been removed, over an acre of areas has been cleared of aquatic invasives, and 250 trees have been planted. Restoration efforts will continue into the fall.
This area has exceptional diversity and requires continual maintenance. Over the years, TTC has focused on this area through projects such as the Blunn Creek Ecological Restoration. The Trail Conservancy continues to play a more significant role in managing and restoring the Blunn Creek and Boardwalk area.
