The Chavez Family Support for The Trail Foundation
February 21, 2018
The Trail means something special to everyone—especially the members of the Chavez family. The family matriarch Dolores first became involved with The Trail Foundation through our corporate volunteer days. Her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Susan, use the Trail to train for their upcoming marathons and half marathons. Mike said he uses the Trail at least five days a week, going on runs during his lunch break to “keep him sane” and get outdoors. Mike has trained for more than five marathons on the Trail, which have qualified him for the Boston Marathon in 2019! For Mike and Susan, coming to the Trail is a family event that everyone enjoys. While Mike trains for his upcoming races, his son Noah joins alongside him on his bike.
The Chavez family says the Trail allows them to feel connected to the Austin community, which is why they recognize the importance of giving back to The Trail Foundation to ensure the beauty of the Trail can be enjoyed for many generations to come. A big thank you to the Chavez family for joining us at our sapling planting volunteer event in January and supporting TTF!
