The Trail Conservancy is stepping into an exciting new era, and Austin Business Journal (ABJ) recently took notice! In a fantastic profile, ABJ introduced our new CEO, Julie Fisher, a lifelong Austinite whose love for the Butler Trail runs deep—literally. (She’s logged countless miles on the Trail and even dedicated bricks to her parents along the path!)
Julie is no stranger to leadership in Austin’s nonprofit and corporate spaces, having spent years ensuring philanthropy thrives in our community. Before joining TTC, she led global community impact efforts at National Instruments and has served on multiple nonprofit boards, including Breakthrough Central Texas, where TTC partners for internships. She’s also been recognized as an Austin Under 40 honoree—twice!
In the ABJ feature, Julie shares her vision for expanding TTC’s reach, enhancing the Trail’s ecological health, and fostering an even stronger sense of community ownership. She’s already hit the ground running—both figuratively and literally (she’s a frequent Trail runner!)—and is eager to champion major upcoming projects like the revitalization of the Seaholm Intake Facility and the Holly Shores redevelopment.
As Julie puts it, the Trail is “Austin’s front porch”—a place where we all come together, whether we’re training for a marathon, strolling with friends, or just taking a deep breath by the lake. Her mission? To make sure the Trail remains a beloved, accessible, and thriving part of Austin for generations to come.
