BIPOC Bird Walk with Travis Audubon

Join Mohammad Tohidiar and TTC Environmental Programs Manager Jonatan Salinas to find birds on the Northeast end of the Butler Trail at the Unity Underpass and Wishbone Bridge. Recently planted native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and natural spring water provide excellent habitats for a variety of bird species. As TTC restores this section of the Butler Trail, there will be a change in birds!
Travis Audubon’s BIPOC Bird Walks intentionally welcome Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to build community and connection through enjoying birds and birding. These walks are intended to be safe, welcoming, and affirming spaces where BIPOC individuals can enjoy the beauty of birding and nature together.
We invite anyone who identifies as BIPOC and who supports our values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access to join us. Friends, family, and allies are welcome to attend as space allows.
Bird walks are:
- 1-2 miles long, completed in around 2 hours
- Beginner-friendly (all levels are welcome)
- On mostly flat terrain (dissolved gravel trail and sidewalks)
- We have binoculars to lend to anyone who doesn’t have a pair
Bird walks are always free, but registration is required and is limited to 20 participants. A reminder email with details will be sent before the bird walk date.
