The Trail Foundation Named Official Charity of bRUNch Running Austin

Partnership aims to protect and enhance the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail

AUSTIN, Texas – December 2, 2014 – bRUNch Running and The Trail Foundation, a 501(c)3 dedicated to protecting and enhancing the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake, today announced a new partnership as the official benefiting charity of bRUNch Running Austin. bRUNch Running Austin is a social running group of people who love to eat brunch.

“It takes everyone to keep the heart of Austin strong and The Trail Foundation is happy to partner with bRUNch Running to continue our mission of protecting and enhancing the Butler Trail,” said Rachel Rountree, development director at The Trail Foundation.

The Trail Foundation works in cooperation with the Austin Parks and Recreation Department to close the gap between what the city provides and what the Trail deserves. In the heart of Austin is the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake, a lush, urban path that meanders along the water’s edge and passes by skyscrapers, neighborhoods, ball fields and cultural attractions. With more than 1.5 million visits a year, the 10-mile hike-and-bike trail is Austin’s most recognized and popular recreational area.

But the Trail is more than a great pathway—it is a place where Austin thrives. For many citizens and visitors, it represents the best Austin has to offer: outdoor recreation; a scenic, natural environment; and a diverse, vibrant mix of people.

On Sundays, December through April, the group will meet for a training run at a local restaurant. The group offers both five-kilometer and ten-kilometer runs each week. The fun continues back at the restaurant with the ultimate brunch experiences and post-run chatting.

bRUNch Austin officially launches on Sunday, December 7 at CRAVE Restaurant (340 E. 2nd St., Austin TX 78701). Tickets are $25 when purchased in advance and $30 day of. bRUNch encourages participants to purchase tickets in advance as seating is limited. A dollar from each ticket sold throughout the season will be donated to The Trail Foundation.

“Through this partnership our goal is to help keep the trail in the best condition possible for runners,” said Erin Gurak, Austin city manager at bRUNch Running. “bRUNch Running prides itself on partnerships that promote our vision of a healthy, fit and fun community and that’s something that the Trail provides to Austinites and visitors.”
