Trail closure and detour route underneath Ann Richards Congress Avenue Bridge: May 9- 21, 2018
May 7, 2018
AUSTIN (April 7, 2018)— The stretch of the Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail underneath the Ann Richards Congress Avenue Bridge will be closed Wednesday, May 9 through Monday, May 21st (12 days total) while the old wooden bridge is demolished and the new 14-foot-wide overwater pathway is assembled and connected to the existing Trail. There will be a detour route directing Trail users up Congress Avenue around the construction while the final phases of TTF’s $2.5 million privately-funded Trail Bridge at Congress Avenue project are completed.
Executive Director Heidi Anderson says: “We’re doing everything possible to ensure this Trail closure and detour route are as brief as possible, and we appreciate your patience and understanding while we wrap up this exciting new project that will bring critical safety improvements and beautification enhancements to this section of the Trail. Construction is well ahead of schedule, and the Trail Bridge at Congress Avenue project is now slated for completion before the end of May.”
The Trail Foundation will continue to post updates about this project and the closure/detour route on its social media pages including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
