Birds of Lady Bird Lake

Join us on the Trail with the Travis Audubon on January 13 for an Urban Bird Walk.

Bird life is abundant around Lady Bird Lake. But, do you know how to identify them? This is an identification guide to the birds most commonly seen.

Cornell University and the National Audubon Society maintain an interactive database of bird observations across the U.S., and Lady Bird Lake is one of their hotspots. eBird summary for Lady Bird Lake will take you to the eBird list of actual bird sightings around Lady Bird Lake.

The eBird website provides interactive online access to a database of bird sightings across the United States and Canada. The database comprises checklists of observations reported by volunteers. View the Austin Area Hotspots, which include many spots at the Butler Trail and Lady Bird Lake.

You can help advance bird science by reporting your bird sightings to the eBird project. You must register with ebirds to report sightings, but it is simple and free. If you want to be part of this effort, you can add your observations to the database.
