Listen to Grassrot Sounds on the Trail with Woode Wood
November 27, 2017
Woode Wood is a guitar-playing, harmonica-blowing entertainer who’s become a well-known fixture on the Trail over the years. Though you might not know the name Woode Wood, you’ve likely seen him at Lou Neff Point (or as he likes to call it, Woode’s Point) serenading runners, bikers, and anyone else passing by on the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail.
Woode has been performing his music on the Trail every day for the past 13 years, with the exception of days when it’s raining. He moved to Austin in 1994 and began performing at Auditorium Shores in 2004, then moved to Lou Neff Point in 2007. And it’s on the Zilker Zephyr—the miniature train that provides a 20-25 minute ride around Zilker Park—that scores of young Austinites get their first experience with the multi-instrumentalist, blowing and strumming as the train passes by.
Next time you pass him, say hello to one of Austin’s most grassroots musicians and one of the Trail’s most unique personalities.
