Interview with Joe and Karen Draker of Maudie’s Tex-Mex
September 24, 2013
Maudie’s has been a loyal supporter of The Trail Foundation for many years, what makes this partnership successful? We are both community centric, places for people to socialize and be with family and friends. Maudie’s and the Trail are kinda like yin and yang. Yin the calories in and yang them out on the Trail.
How does the Trail fit into Maudie’s community outreach?
It fits into the top line of our budget! We are presented with many requests throughout the year to support various worthwhile charities. While supporting many, the Trail is very close to our hearts. The opportunity to support Roberta Crenshaw’s vision – community green space interurban – is a real honor. What a tremendous gift to Austinites.
What is your favorite spot along the Trail?
Lou Neff Point, it always brings a smile to my face and warms my thoughts when I stand among Maudie’s, my mother Maida’s, and daughter Monroe’s bricks.
What was your most memorable Maudie’s Moonlight Margarita Run experience and why?
The appreciation year after year bestowed on us at Maudie’s from friends, acquaintances, and customers, expressing their gratitude for sponsoring and supporting the Trail.
