Why did Maudie’s decide to be the lead sponsor of the Trail Foundation’s 2009 Moonlight Margarita Run?
We love the Trail – its part of what makes Austin a great place to live, eat and work. This our 4th year of being involved with the Moonlight Margarita Run and we feel very fortunate to be the lead sponsor for this year’s event.

How does the Trail fit into the Maudie’s experience?
When it comes to going around the Trail, Maudie’s is good start and a good finish. Pete’s Tacos for fuel, queso and margaritas to wind down!

Do you see a connection between Maudie’s and the Trail?
Yes, we are both in the Heart of Austin and one of our town’s home-grown institutions.

The Trail has grown since it was created in the 1970s. How has Maudie’s Tex-Mex changed since you opened the doors in 1992?
In 1992, we opened as Maudie’s TexMex and had a grand total of 7 tables. Now, we have 188 and locations across Austin. The original Maudie’s Café opened in 1954 so the Maudie’s name and tradition pre-dates the Trail and even Longhorn Dam.

What is the favorite choice on the menu at Maudie’s for runners on Saturday and Sunday?
Migas, Pete’s Tantalizing Tacos, Bloody Mary’s and Margaritas

Do you have a favorite spot or route on the Trail?
Lou Neff Point where Barton Creek flows into Lady Bird Lake. IIts a great spot for people watching and views of the city.

Will you be running the 5K on August 6th or drinking margaritas?
We will be running fajitas and margaritas for the 800 Trail supporters at the afterparty!
