Hailing from the small town of Temple\, Texas\, Renuka is a first generation American with Sri Lankan roots. Renuka played music her whole life and at age 9\, she took up the saxophone and never stopped since. After beginning her career as a professional saxophonist in Austin\, Texas\, she met her fellow bandmates through the scene and thus began the group RENU. After studying vocal education at Texas State University\, she began writing and performing while touring with her first band\, The Blue Hit. She went on to collaborate with a variety of musical projects\, including Middlespoon and The Brother Brothers\, before co-founding Austin psych-folk band The Deer\, which has been recognized by the Austin Music Awards as one of the city’s Best Performing Folk Bands. In addition to her work with The Deer\, Grace has performed and recorded with artists including Alejandro Escovedo\, MilkDrive\, Bayonne’s Roger Sellers\, Abram Shook\, and others.
