SUMMARY:Maraca Bench Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Maraca Bench Trail Tour 2025\nThe Longhorn Dam Pedestrian Bridge will mark a milestone for the Butler Trail\, completing the loop so Trail users can enjoy a seamless\, traffic-free experience! To celebrate\, we are unveiling our new Maraca benches—a first for the Trail. Designed by Austin-based Lemmo Architecture and Design and fabricated by Harvest Lumber Co.\, these benches honor the neighborhood’s Hispanic roots\, history\, and culture. A total of 31 benches will be installed along the bridge\, set to open in 2026. \n \nWe’re taking our first Maraca bench on a trip around the Trail for everyone to see! The “roadshow” bench is the prototype we built to confirm bench height\, depth\, back angle and supports. Through this process\, we decided to reduce the width of the seat by 2-1/2 inches for the 14 benches to be placed on the bridge. The bench plaque will also be slightly smaller than shown at 3 x 10 inches. \nFrom February through the Fall of 2025\, catch a prototype of the Maraca bench at three spots on the Trail: \n\nFebruary – Rainey Street Trailhead\nMay – Auditorium Shores\nAugust – Holly Shores\n\nFebruary\nRainey Street TrailHead \nMay\nAuditorium Shores \nAugust\nHolly Shores \nThe “Maraca” benches will be made of reclaimed/salvaged hardwood from cypress trees\, and they will feature light tones that are weatherproofed. SUMMARY:Kids on Bikes in Parks
DESCRIPTION:« All Events\n \n\n	Kids on Bikes in Parks\n			March 22\n	  @\n9:00 am\n	  –\n12:00 pm \nKids on Bikes in Parks is a free cycling event presented by Violet Crown\, The LeadOut Foundation\, and The Trail Conservancy. We have a closed course of 1000 ft of grassy parkland for children ages 5-15 to ride their bikes on. We will have open track time with experienced cyclists present to teach lessons and at the top of every hour\, we will have timed laps for kids to test themselves and track their progress. \nWe will have a fleet of bikes provided by WOOM Bikes on hand for any child wishing to try one or without a bike of their own to ride the course. All participants are eligible to receive some giveaways from Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop and Trek Bikes. \nParents/guardians must remain on-site but can enjoy some cold beverages while supervising their children on the course. DESCRIPTION:GSI Planting \nThe Trail Conservancy continues to improve floodplain health by installing and maintaining green stormwater infrastructure (rain gardens) along the Trail. These structures reduce the impact of heavy storm flows and improve water infiltration. \nVolunteers will learn about rain gardens\, their importance to our Trail\, and how to plant and maintain them. TTC will provide materials\, gloves\, and extra water for volunteers. \n\nEvent Details\nRegister Here \n\nMeeting Location: Auditorium Shores – Please look for an orange TTC tent or sail flag.\nParking Information: Free parking and street parking are available at the Auditorium Shores parking lot and along Riverside Drive.\nWhat to bring and wear: Wear closed-toed shoes\, long pants\, and sun protection (sunglasses and a hat).
